Reputed mob associate from Pa. charged in violent home invasions
NEW YORK - Three alleged associates of the Genovese organized crime family, and four other people, are being charged with a series of extortions and violent home invasions in New York and New Jersey.
The defendants were named in an indictment unsealed yesterday in federal District Court in New York. They are accused of participating in extortions or robberies targeting business owners.
Five of the seven are also charged with armed invasions of business owners’ homes in Orange County, New York, and Morris County, New Jersey.
The indictment alleges that three of the defendants, including Angelo Nicosia of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, used their status as Genovese crime family associates to extort a Manhattan-based business owner.
