Mafia clan in furniture, hundreds of kgs of coke seized
Naples — Wardrobes, drawers, and nightstands, made of wood, but with chambers stuffed with pure cocaine from South America. This was the load that was seized in the port of Vado Ligure, in the province of Savona, in a Naples Customs Police operation, along with local Italian Financial Police, coordinated with the Neapolitan antimafia district management.
Investigations allowed the finding of a load destined to Campania Camorra organizations in transit in the town of Vado and on the way to the port of Salerno. Fortunately, the three containers of furniture with artisan inlays were headed to a commercial operator in Rome.
The public prosecutor, Raffaello Falcone and Pierpaolo Filippelli learned of the imminent arrival of a large quantity of drugs through the work of the intelligence of the Naples tax group; at the port of Vado Ligure, Customs Officers became suspicious upon seeing that the container had a gross weight that was heavier than allowed, and the informed the district management of the Naples antimafia unit, which ordered for an immediate search with the help of a canine unit.
The documentation that accompanied the transport appeared normal, but military officers concentrated their attention of the fact that the furniture in the last container, which appeared the same as the other two, weighed more, and the difference in weight was mostly in the secret chambers of the furniture.
Cutting the panels, they were immersed in rolls of cocaine for 130-140 grams, laid out in thin layers and covered with thin layers of wood. The seizing operation has been taking place for 24 hours.
