Italian police arrest fugitive Mafia boss
ROME. Police said they on Monday arrested a top boss of the Calabria Mafia ‘Ndrangheta in southern Italy, Giuseppe Bellocco, on the list of the country’s 30 most wanted fugitives, the ANSA news agency reported.
Bellocco, 59, who has been on the run since 1997, is wanted in connection with murder, Mafia association and drug trafficking, according to the interior ministry’s website.
He was arrested near his home town of Rosarno, when a special police team interrupted what appeared to be a meeting with other Mafia members, according to ANSA.
Bellocco tried to hide in a bunker to escape the arrest, the agency added.
