Since May 17, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has instigated, imported agents and thugs into Flushing to harass and attack volunteers of the “Quit the CCP” Service Center. In an Epoch Times interview, former Chinese diplomat Mr. Chen Yonglin commented that the regime has always had close ties with overseas Chinese mafia.

“It [the use of money to hire thugs] happened all along in the past, because the CCP started as an organized crime syndicate, it organized violence and is a hoodlum itself; its policies and series of purges all have revealed this nature. The union between the CCP and (overseas) local Chinese mafias is extremely tight.”

Chen also used his personal experience as an example, “When I was visiting Montreal, Canada in June 2007, I witnessed how the local mafia helped the CCP. At the time, a local independent society held an evening event for me. When I arrived, there was a group of thugs from an underground society at the door of the restaurant threatening the guests. They directly and openly set a table at the door to monitor them.”

Chairman of Chinese Association Held for Alleged Drug Smuggling
In March, the media disclosed that an Australian Chinese community leader Hu Yang (aka Frank Hu), who had the full support of the Chinese Consulate, was a suspect in a 250 kg narcotics smuggling case (reported on tvnz.co.nz, “Fourth-largest drug bust made in Australia” Mar 12, 2008). Chen pointed out that it was not surprising because it had always been the CCP’s strategy to cooperate with or even manipulate mafia groups.

Chen said, “In Sydney, the CCP has a very intimate relationship with the local Chinese mafia. Frank Hu was an honored guest of the Chinese Consulate. As the chairman of the Australian International Exchange Association, Hu helped the CCP to carry on foreign propaganda in Australia in many ways through the Association.”

Sydney Chinese Mafia Offers to “Clean Up” Falun Gong Activities at Consulate
Chen also disclosed that in 2002, a Sydney local Chinese mafia head suggested to the Chinese Consul General that they could help the CCP to clean up Falun Gong activities in front of the Consulate. “For example, in Hong Kong, the CCP relies on the mafia to harass and destroy organizations opposing the CCP. It is all because the CCP is the mafia in China, and is the boss of all Chinese mafias overseas.” said Chen.

Chen told the reporter that for a long time, he was in a state of despair, but in the past several years he has felt more hopeful again, because more and more people are coming out to oppose the CCP dictatorship, and more and more people bravely step forward.

One Crisis on Top of Another
“At present, the CCP is barely maintaining its feeble existence. The closer to the end, the more frail it will become, and the crazier and crueler it will become. Especially before the Olympics, the CCP is carrying on large scale arrests of human rights activists and people of conscience. It is my understanding it’s again started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners beginning in January and immediately sentenced them to the labor camp for eight months after their arrest in order to get through the Olympics in August.”

Speaking of the Sichuan earthquake, Chen said, “Because the CCP deliberately concealed the earthquake prediction and the use of “tofu” substandard school construction, many students died in the earthquake. Additionally, the unorganized rescue efforts in the beginning period of the relief work, have all caused more resentment. The CCP is facing one crisis on top of another crisis now.”

BEIJING — Chinese police have cracked 874 mafia-style crimes and removed 9,662 criminal gangs since a campaign aimed at eradicating the country’s serious gang crimes launched in 2006, according to government figures released here on Monday.

Nearly 60,000 suspects of gang crimes were arrested and 77,000 criminal cases were cracked during the past two years, according to a meeting of the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The country’s procurator agencies has sued 753 mafia-style crimes and the courts have tried 512 such cases, says the Committee.

Serious crimes including murder, robbery and injuries were all down about four percent over the past two years, it says.

Meng Jianzhu, deputy secretary of the Committee and Minister of Public Security, urged the country’s police to address the safety issues that concern people the most.

The police should crack “big” cases such as solving the mafia-style crimes and cracking down serious violent crimes. They should at the same time deal with “smaller” cases that affect people’s sense of security, including thefts and pick-pocketing cases, said Meng, who is also a State Councillor.

Through the campaign, “social order has apparently improved, and the people’s sense of security has been enhanced”, the Committee says.

The campaign also rooted out some gangs and evil forces in rural areas and exposed corrupted officials, which is conducive to regime building at grassroots level and the construction of a clean government, says the Committee.

The meeting also decided to tighten security during the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

To safeguard the national peace and social stability and curb the spread of mafia-style gang crimes are also in line with the need to ensure a sound social environment for the Olympics, says the meeting.

The meeting also decided to intensify efforts to further crack the evil and underground forces, remove the “umbrellas” that protect the mafia-style gangs, and mobilize the masses to provide help in this effort.

THE Italian mafia has joined forces with Dutch and Chinese criminals to flood Australia with ecstasy, in a global crime alliance not seen here since the 1980s.

Dutch authorities have warned their Australian counterparts that tonnes of ecstasy pills are arriving by container at various ports, because we lead world demand for the drug.

The Netherlands-based elite Synthetic Drugs Unit, which co-ordinates the international fight against illicit substances, said criminals had formed multi-national alliances to serve the high demand and high returns available here.

The Dutch have just closed their anti-drugs bureau in Miami in favour of posting a police officer to Canberra to liaise directly with the Australian Federal Police.

Cees van Spierenburg, the public prosecutor who runs their Synthetic Drugs Unit, said intelligence had uncovered plans for mass shipments of drugs for Australia, and warned: “We are talking about millions of tablets.

“It’s a question of supply and demand. Organised crime groups are trying to earn as much money as easily and quickly as possible.

“So if you are able to sell a tablet for $20 or more and it costs you a quarter of a euro dollar to produce, you really can make a lot of money.”

The drugs are also made to order, down to their weight and even the local logos stamped on them, by order of Australian underworld chiefs.

Mr van Spierenburg said his officers had found the Chinese were sending chemical ingredients to the Netherlands to convert into drugs.

The finished product was driven to ports across Europe, particularly Italy, for export to Australia.

“The mafia is now the intermediary in the exportation to Australia,” he said.

The mafia used its extensive network of contacts to ensure the movements remained undetected. The direct involvement of the Italians is significant, because they have not been a strong feature of the Australian crime scene for more than two decades.

The Synthetic Drugs Unit has also found evidence that Chinese criminals are exporting the chemicals direct to Australia for local mass production of ecstasy.

They usually arrive in sea containers, disguised as shipments of goods such as soy sauce. A scattergun approach is suspected, where dozens of containers are shipped to various ports particularly along the east coast, in the anticipation that some will be found but others won’t.

Mr van Spierenberg said: “It’s like the cocaine swallowers. You can have 30 drug couriers who have swallowed cocaine arriving on one plane.

“But we only have the capacity to find three or four of them, so you take the risk and some get through.”

BEIJING: Chinese police have cracked nearly 500 criminal cases and busted over 4,000 gangs since it launched a crackdown against mafia-style crimes in February 2006, the state media reported on Sunday. The police had so far referred 340 cases of alleged gang crimes for prosecution, a spokesman of the office for national campaign against organised crime said.

More than 4,000 criminal gangs were wiped out during the campaign, he said. Thanks to the crackdown, the number of serious crimes including homicide and robbery has dropped in the first half of this year, he was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.

However, the spokesman noted that the one-year-strong campaign shows that criminal activities of mafia-like groups are in “the high occurrence period” in China and more efforts must be made to win the “protracted, complex and tough” struggle.

Some of the criminal gangs involve “protecting umbrellas” from government officials. The spokesman also highlighted the existence of these “umbrellas” and said they are a crucial part for cracking gang crimes.

In 2002, police in southern China warned that activities by mafia-style criminal gangs were widespread. The police chief of the Guangdong province Liang Guoju told the local legislature that out of some eight-thousand criminal gangs broken up over a five-month period this year, more than two-hundred had mafia-type structures.

Hong Kong police have detained 101 alleged triad gangsters, according to police and media reports, in what is believed to be one of the city’s biggest gangland stings in years.

The detainees, including 26 teenagers, were arrested in the Tsim Sha Tsui tourist district in a crackdown on what is believed to be an effort to rig upcoming local votes.

Triads are the Chinese equivalent of the mafia and thrive in the karaoke lounges, brothels and bars, particularly of the less affluent Kowloon neighbourhoods.

Membership and even mention of them is a serious offence in Hong Kong.

A police spokeswoman would not give details of the arrests.

But a report in the Sunday Morning Post newspaper said the detainees were thought to be members of the brutal Sun Yee On gang, one of the largest in the southern Chinese city.

“We believe they were mobilised to show their support for someone prior to the election of a New Territories village head,” a police source was quoted as saying.

The report said police swooped after receiving a tip-off that the triads would be gathering.

Elections are being held this weekend and over the next four to select leaders of territory’s many tiny rural villages.

Village politics in Hong Kong are rooted the traditions of rural Chinese culture, in which powerful families dominate and effectively lead each settlement.

The arrangement has led to accusations of, and prosecutions for, corruption.
