Kosovo Albanian mafia that is pushing for independence wants to turn the province into a criminal center like Colombia says Italian reporter and writer Roberto Saviano.

“I am very curious about the Albanian mafia, because great Albanian mobsters have a big dream. They want to turn Kosovo into new Columbia in Europe,” Saviano said.

Saviano said that Kosovo Albanian mobsters want to differentiate their cocaine from Colombia’s by mutating its genes so it can grow in Kosovo where the climate is colder then in Colombia.

“They want to grow transgenic cocaine which is grown in temperatures that are different from those in Latin America,” Saviano said.

Saviano noted that the goal of the Kosovo Albanian mafia is to make the province the cocaine monopoly center.

“Grow transgenic cocaine in Kosovo and to enable the Albanian mafia to have monopoly over cocaine,” Saviano said.

However, Saviano says that Kosovo Albanians need 20 years to achieve this and, in the meanwhile, they are augmenting their sales operation by importing cocaine from Colombia.

“Today this cannot be done because the transgenic cocaine that exists in Kosovo today is very expensive. Therefore, it does not pay off. It is better to import it from Latin America than to grow it. But in 20 years, Kosovo will undoubtedly be the new Columbia,” Saviano said,” Saviano told the Tirana based Top Channel media outlet.

The Albanian organized crime groups, operating largely in New York City, are carrying out serious criminal offenses, Manhattan Attorney Michael Garcia said.

“Albanian extremist crime groups have emerged in the city and became more active. So far, we cannot say whether these groups dominate, but they commit the cruelest felonies,” Garcia said.

Albanian organized crime penetrated in the European Union countries as well as in the United States since the start of the war in Kosovo, when Albanians were granted a status of ethnic refugees, Russian Ria Novosti news agency said.

A number of experts estimate that Albanian narco-mafia was directly linked with Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), seen by many US experts as terrorist group.

Experts say the Balkan route provides 25-40% of the entire heroine market in the United States.

FBI says in its report that Albanian mafia have emerged as a serious organized crime problem, threatening to displace La Cosa Nostra families as kingpins of U.S. crime.

Official statistical data show that in New York only, there are around 150.000 Albanians – migrants from Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania.

Tirana. Albanian mafia consists of 15 clans, which rule the whole country territory, Koha Jone wrote, citing report of the French Institute for Investigating Criminal Risk.

In the report is said that it is clear enouch that if they are able and continue to exist so many years, mafia organizations in Albania have influence over all political, police and military sphere.

French specialists believe that the structure of the mafia in Albania is clan type as the relation between members of each clan are at most generic.

Usually the members of one clan live near to each other – sometimes even on the same street. In the report cited is also said that the relations between members of Albanian mafia are done on basis of special “honor code”, which have unarguable authority.

On June 23, 1999, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley introduced a Senate bill, S. 1271, frustratingly named Most Favored Rogue States Act of 1999 in which the distinguished Senator demanded, among other things, that “Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall submit to Congress a report on the drug trafficking activities of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The report shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex.”

No American Secretary of State ever replied to this concerned Senator.

Albright and the KLA leader Hasim Taci hugging one another during Albright’s visit to Pristina.

That spring, Senator Grassley then followed the inaction of the Secretary of State Madeleine Albright by sending a letter to President Clinton requesting an assessment of KLA drug trafficking to which Clinton responded, in a letter, in which this President said that neither CIA nor the DEA “has any intelligence that indicates the KLA has either been engaged in other criminal activity or has direct links to any organized crime groups,” and promised to monitor Albanian narcotics distribution in the future!

In a sworn testimony before the Congress in December of 2000, however, Assistant Director of Interpol’s Criminal Intelligence Directorate, Ralf Mutschke, stated that Clinton’s State Department, well before Grassley made inquiries about Albanian narco-politics, had “listed the KLA [in 1998] as a terrorist organization, indicating that it was financing its operations with money from the international heroin trade and loans from Islamic countries and individuals, among them allegedly Osama bin Laden.”

Mutschke also confirmed that Osama bin Laden sent one of his top military commanders to Kosovo to lead “an elite KLA unit during the Kosovo conflict.”

For his masterful shielding of Kosovo Albanian drug mafia, Clinton was rewarded in 2004 with an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Pristina in Kosovo, one of the intellectually lowest educational institutions in the world.

“The effects of this [Albanian narco] lobby are well known,” writes Marko Nicovic, former Serbian top cop familiar with Albanian mafia.

“Gratitude toward it is expressed by the existence of Bill Clinton Boulevard and Madeleine Albright Square in Priština. It gained little attention that two years ago, in the space of one month, Bill Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Wesley Clark and Richard Holbrooke paid successive official visits to Priština,” writes Nicovic.

Bob Agresti from the White House, in charge of organized crime and addictive drugs, says that Clinton shielded Kosovo and the Albanian mafia invoking “higher interests.” (more…)
