PRESTON, England, May 18 (UPI) — British authorities arrested a man they allege is a Mafia boss who traveled to England to avoid a clash between rival mob families in Italy.

The Telegraph reported Friday Italian detectives tracked Gennaro Panzuto to a home outside the Preston and surprised the alleged mobster and his neighbors earlier this week.

Panzuto, 32, reportedly relocated to Britain after two Mafia families in Italy began a deadly rivalry. He faces charges of illegal firearm possession, drug dealing and extortion.

Panzuto’s arrest Thursday marked the second time an alleged Mafia figure was located within Britain’s borders.

Police in January arrested Ann Hathaway, 42, at her home in Middleton, charging her with running a Mafia empire along with her imprisoned husband. The Telegraph said Hathaway reached a plea bargain with Italian authorities that gave her probation for five years and a suspended prison sentence.
