Rome — Italy’s anti-Mafia investigators have moved to close a top restaurant in the historic centre of Rome because of its alleged links to the Calabrian Mafia or ‘Ndrangheta. The Italian daily, Corriere della Sera, reported on Tuesday that the magistrates believe the ‘Ndrangheta is running ‘Alla Rampa’ and another 20 other lucrative businesses in Rome, including hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. But the article also makes the far more alarming claim that the Calabrian Mafia has made a pact with the Neapolitan Mafia or Camorra to divide the city and its business between them.
