THERMAL, Calif. (AP) — Thirteen reputed members of one of Southern California’s most feared gangs have been arrested in the Coachella Valley on narcotics and money laundering charges.
The raids detailed in court papers unsealed today followed a 10 month wiretap investigation of Jose Chavez Huerta, 42, of Thermal. He is alleged to have run a sophisticated methamphetamine and heroin trafficking business as shot caller for the area’s branch of the Mexican Mafia gang. Continue Reading »

Biography Presents Mafia Legends is an iffy grab bag of Biography profiles on three of organized crime’s most notorious gangsters: Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Siegel. A bonus fourth disc, Mob Hitman comes from A&E’s American Justice series. Quickly edited, with a nice selection of archival footage and stills, these glossy but essentially superficial bios certainly move well enough, and hit the highlights of these infamous mobsters. But there’s a certain nagging sense of romanticism to two of the bios which makes this collection a questionable purchase. Continue Reading »

While Turkey has stepped up its efforts against drug use and drug trafficking, prices in Europe have increased.
Dutch authorities have said the increases in prices are related to the large amount of drugs that were seized by Turkish authorities at the Kapikule custom gate.
Most drugs smuggled between West and East pass through Turkey, simply because of its geographic location on the route between south-east Asia and Europe.
