On June 23, 1999, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley introduced a Senate bill, S. 1271, frustratingly named Most Favored Rogue States Act of 1999 in which the distinguished Senator demanded, among other things, that “Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall submit to Congress a report on the drug trafficking activities of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Mafia soldier Angelo “Sonny” Mercurio, who helped the FBI land the first-ever bugging of a mob induction ceremony, has died in Little Rock, Ark., where he lived in the federal witness-protection program, relatives said yesterday.

A superseding indictment was unsealed this morning in federal court in Brooklyn charging nineteen members and associates of the Bonanno organized crime family of La Costa Nostra, including two members of the Bonanno family’s administration – Bonanno family acting underboss NICHOLAS SANTORA and Bonanno family acting consigliere ANTHONY RABITO. This superseding indictment is the latest in an ongoing investigation that has resulted in the prosecution of more than 100 members and associates of the Bonanno family in the Eastern District of New York. We have been listening to the National Intelligence Organization’s (MİT) former director of the Istanbul area, Nuri Gündeş, for days now. He is a courteous gentleman whom I have known for a while. He is approaching 90. After his retirement in 1986 he remained silent for a very long time. He is currently working on a book. It is maybe because of this that suddenly he started appearing on TV.
